It all started with the idea of organizing a snowboard movie night with some of the iconic movies that we all loved while growing up but the whole concept took another path.
Dimitris Maniatis, being an avid dumpster diver, a few years ago started collecting a bunch of old boards and he kind of got addicted so he proposed to unite the movie night with a selection of his finds but then he decided to push it a step forward and with the help of Dimitris Liossis and Daniel Petrov the whole collection started to grow till the point it got out of hand… We found out that a lot of people had treasures in their basements and everyone were willing to hand them out for the event!
More than a 100 snowboards were gathered from all over Greece, we made a list of the most iconic ones and then another list with some of the movies we would like to show and everything was set to start the preparation.
We figured everything out, from the movies and to how the boards would be placed, it wasn’t an easy task but with the help of a lot of friends that were willing to help us out we managed to get everything ready and we couldn’t be more stoked with the result!
At this point we would like to thank all the friends that helped out with organizing the event and helped our idea come to life… first of all Despoina Charitonidi for letting us use her awesome space and giving us the freedom to do whatever changes we wanted which included moving all of her stuff and drilling holes all over her walls, Lefteris Tzouvelis and Noise Events for setting up all the audio-visual part and also contributing with one of the most old DIY boards that we hanged on the wall, Danae Syrkou and EXAD creative agency for the creative approach on the best poster we could ask and pressdot for printing it, Hercules for 3d printing in record time all the inserts for hanging the boards on the wall, Tsirou sweet creations for surprising us with some custom saboteur cookies,Eva Patapatiou for hooking us up with an overload of BABEL beers, Gerasimos Avramidis and Microxtreme for sending us some of the most iconic and legendary boards of the worldwide scene, John and FIFTY-FIFTY boardshop for contributing with some of the most unique boards from greek riders back in the day, Dimitris Liossis and Maria Boukaouris for the boards and for setting up a unique photo dump from the 90’s and also some mag and books memorabilia, Daniel Petrov for providing knowledge and also many boards from back in the day and maybe every rider’s favourite board plus for fixing and waxing the boards to be clean and pristine for the event,Alexandros Aspromougkos and Splitboard.gr and Theo Vranas for helping us set up the exhibition and also dismantling it till late night, and finally all of you that contributed and trusted us with your precious snowboards and of course ALL OF YOU THAT came by and made it a special day,
