Is freedom taken for granted? Are we really free? Is it just a mindgame?
Freedom is more of a state of mind, a memory, we feel free whenever we are having fun or something nice happens to us, we can relate freedom with luck or even with hard work and dedication on efforts that at a certain point will give us the sensation of conquering something and that relief feeling of reaching that point will set us free, but not forever, just for a little bit, or for as long as that same feelng will start fading and we’ll have to start over again.
Freedom is temporary and it can last just a few seconds or maybe more, but most of the time we pretend to be free beteween our routine, our work, our family, our everyday life.
Every single person has their own personal sense of feeling free but is that really what matters?
A weekend, a vacation, sipping coffee at a bar, dancing, reading, watching movies, eating at a nice restaurant, dating, walking, running, travelling, playing… everyone has a special freedom pass for their everyday life.
A trip with friends, just a few hours away from Athens with some epic conditions and watching everyone’s smile just by paddling into a wave and riding it for a few seconds or even falling over and over, fighting with strong currents just to reach the line up or either looking at the shape of the waves from the beach in awe… that is freedom!
The following photos are from these past months early winter swells in various locations down south, epic conditions, lots of laughs with friends, many kilometres driven for the ideal riding conditions, sometimes you win sometimes you lose but in the end everything is worth it…
A lot of people were riding really good but it was hard to take photos from all of them, hopefully we’ll catch up on the next swell!
